That first moment when you find the one is unforgettable. But choosing your prom dress is only the beginning. At MK Prom in Bletchley, we want you and your family to know exactly what happens next, from choosing your gown to the final fitting and collection.
1. Your first visit: explore, try on and fall in love
Begin with a personal appointment at our Queensway showroom. Our stylists will help you explore different silhouettes, fabrics and colours without pressure. You can try something completely unexpected as well as the styles you have saved on your phone. Prefer a quieter experience? Tell us when booking and we’ll do our best to arrange one of our calmer fitting spaces.
Once you find your favourite, we check your school against our exclusivity promise. For our main MK Prom collection, we do not sell the same dress style for the same school’s prom, even in another colour. Ask our team about the separate terms for MK Outlet dresses.
2. Secure your chosen dress
Our current booking information says you can secure an MK Prom dress with a £120 deposit. We also advertise instalment options. Your stylist will explain the applicable order, deposit, payment schedule and collection arrangements for your particular dress before you commit. Please don’t assume the entire remaining balance is always payable only when a dress arrives; confirm your own order terms with the team.
3. Your actual dress may need to be ordered
Some gowns can be selected from the collection already available in the showroom. Other designer dresses may need to be ordered in your chosen size or colour. Your first fitting may therefore be in a sample gown rather than the actual dress you will take to prom.
If your dress is ordered, we will let you know about its arrival and the next steps. Delivery timings vary by designer and style, so ask your stylist for the expected timeline rather than assuming every dress is available to collect immediately.
4. Your second visit: try on the dress that’s yours
This is the part families sometimes don’t expect: many girls need at least two visits even when no alterations are required. The first visit is to choose and, where needed, order the gown. The return visit is to try on the actual dress after it arrives and check its fit and finish.
That second visit matters. A sample dress can fit slightly differently from the finished gown, and you want to feel comfortable and confident before taking it home. Some dresses and circumstances may allow a different collection process; our team will explain what applies to you.
5. Alterations, if your dress needs them
Many gowns benefit from a finishing touch, perhaps a hem adjustment, a small change to the fit or another alteration recommended by our specialist seamstresses. MK Seamstress works in the same Bletchley building as MK Prom, making it easier to organise dress fittings and alterations without having to find and travel between separate businesses.
Alterations are not automatically required for every dress, and they may involve extra fitting or collection visits. Our team will talk through what is appropriate for your gown and the relevant charges before any work is arranged.
6. Final fitting and collection: you’re ready for prom
Once any agreed alterations are complete, your team will help you with collection and the practical details of keeping your dress looking beautiful before prom night. Try to leave enough time in your plans for any additional fitting needs rather than choosing a collection date at the last possible moment.

Frequently asked questions
Will I need to visit twice?
Often, yes. If the dress you choose needs ordering, you will usually visit first to select it and return once your actual dress arrives to check the fit. This can apply even if the dress needs no alterations. Additional fittings depend on your gown.
Can I reserve my dress with a deposit?
Our current 2027 appointment information advertises a £120 deposit to secure a chosen MK Prom dress. Confirm payment timing and any applicable terms with your stylist.
Do I need to organise my own seamstress?
Not necessarily. Our specialist MK Seamstress team is in the same building, so ask about fitting and alteration arrangements when you visit.
What about school exclusivity?
For our MK Prom collection we have a one-dress-style-per-school prom promise, even across colours. MK Outlet has different terms, so we’ll explain which promise applies to your choice.
